Doll making

A few weeks ago I took a basic sewing class with the intention of making homemade gifts for my children this holiday season. I decided to try making Black Apple Dolls via Martha Stewart Crafts and this is the result of my second attempt. My first little doll came out tinier than I intended and was definitely a learning process. It took 2.5 hours just to complete it! I am learning that I'm more comfortable with hand sewing than with machine sewing. And that I like to embroider, hence the monogram on the doll's dress. My goal is to make one doll for each of my children and nieces for Christmas. That means there's going to be some late nights sewing for me this week!

Lastly, my heart goes out to all the families affected by the tragedy in Newtown, CT last week. I hope and pray that as a country we will take action to prevent a tragedy like that from happening ever again.

  1. Your doll came out SO cute! To me, late night sewing is the best, especially with a Christmas playlist this time of year! I would love to try to make little animal dolls like this, perhaps wearing cute clothing! Thanks for the inspiration and happiest holidays to you!
